So, I had a change of heart of the other day. I decided to switch to a modern deck for multiple reasons. The first being, a new block is coming out in like 6-7 months. Two, I found a deck that I really really like. It's a really fun deck to play. I'm making a modern deck, Elves specifically. It's not going to be a terribly competitive deck, I'm just going to use it for casual use, like planeschase and two-headed giant. It's also way cheaper, and it uses a really cool planeswalker, Nissa Revane. I'm also going to be putting in Rhys the Redeemed, because it has it's own token generation and it doubles some of the other token generation in there. I'll give further details once I have a list done, which will be soon.

Hey,
Well, I've been a little busy lately, and I've also been distracted by the wonders of the Zendikar Block. I'm really sad that I missed the opportunity to play in it in standard. The cards in there are bright, artwise, and there are a variety of cool abilities, namely, Landfall. Landfall to me is just cool. Abilities, that are activated by playing land... the benefit for the early game is just mind blowing. Don't get me wrong, Innistrad has some cool mechanics, like morbid and undying. But, Landfall! I just really appreciate the fact that the mechanic rewards one of the basic necessities of playing the game. Unlike Morbid, which benefits something that you usually don't want to happen. In my opinion, there isn't another kind of widespread rule that comes even close in it's excellence. Well, that my rant on landfall.

I've figured out what I would like to do next. I'm going to stay in the realm of Standard for now. I've decided that I want to make a white Humans deck. I have most of the stuff for for so I just thought why not. I may turn it into tokens, however.
I guess I'll make a Pros and Cons list:
The benefit of white Humans is the simplicity of it. It's a very clean and straight forward deck to play and has a pretty low mana curve. One downside is that it can be easily overwhelmed by big creature or token decks, due to its reliance on a moderate amount of smaller creatures. The other downside is the disadvantage towards vampires in standard.
The Benefits of white tokens is one, that they're cheap, easy to put together and can generate a variety of different creatures. The only weakness that the tokens has is a weakness toward Ratchet Bombs
...why not a blend...
It'll be a hodge-podge effort, but I think I could make that work. Token and human blend would generate mass and overall stability... I think I'll give that a shot.

What to do Next
With my deck so nearly complete, I've began thinking about what I'm going to do afterwards. The amount of options is ridiculous. I'm either going to stick with a standard format deck, or the more likely option is that I'm going to expand into Modern format, and do who knows what. My first inclination was to make a deck based around Ajani Vengeant, but at the same time I don't know... I would also like to attempt an elf deck, because that just seems fun. Stuff is just really up in the air, and I don't like it. I like to plan, I like to have stuff to do and this lack of it, while still nice, leaves me restless, and wanting for more. Which is one of the dangers of this game. It's addicting, but it is so worth it. I can think of a few more ways that I'd rather spend my time at this point. Well, the search continues for what I'd like to do next, so he goes!

Today I'd like to talk about what my deck is right now. It's an incomplete Red/Black Vampire Aggro, with a splash of Sorin. In fact here's a link to it, if you're really that interested.http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/my-deck-54/ It's still going to be undergoing some minor changes. For instance I'm thinking of either taking out the Four "Rakish Heir"s http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=234441. And replacing them with two "Curse of Stalked Prey" http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=226889 and two "Oblivion Ring" http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=234567 or...or I can remove the four "Markov Blademaster"s http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=249419 in my deck and replacing them with I don't know what. Maybe the same thing, maybe not. It's all up in the air, and that's kind of where I'm at. That's all I'm really stuck on. However, the incompleteness comes from the fact that I'm missing three cards from it right now.

Introductory Post
Hey, I'm Matt,
I really enjoy playing Magic. I am no expert, but I'm hoping that through this blog I can gain an even better understanding of it... also, I'm doing this for a grade in my English 102 Class. So this may continue after the assignment concludes, depending on how it goes.
I've been playing Magic for about three months at this point-in-time and have sunken a reasonable amount of money into this enticing hobby. But, I've gotten my money's-worth out of it. I only have one deck right now and it's not even complete yet. But, I'm close. I'm at the stage where I'm looking to build a second deck, I have no idea of what yet.
I also enjoy theatre, Nordic Skiing, and video games. In that area I am eagerly anticipating the release of Mass Effect 3. I'm a college freshman, almost 19, and am majoring in Health, Wellness, and Fitness. So over at least the next week I'll be giving long-winded exposition on my thoughts on the game what I'm doing now with it, and what I would like to do with it.
Enjoy
